Benefits of Cardiovascular Activity

Cardiovascular activity, better known as aerobic exercise, requires large muscle movement over a sustained period of time. It typically consists of walking, running, cycling, or swimming. Benefits of cardiovascular activity includes reduction of heart disease risk, keeping weight under control, blood cholesterol level improvement, and more.

The great thing about exercise is you do not have to do it all at one time. After all, most people have very busy schedules and cannot workout continuously for long periods of time. Instead, you can do 1 mile walks in short bursts that will add up throughout your day. View below for some suggestions to get you started with cardiovascular activity and additional information.

WCUSA Monthly Newsletter - All About Allergies

Allergies are your body's reaction to a substance it views as a harmful "invader". For example, coming into contact with what is normally a harmless substance, such as pollen, might cause the immune system, or the body's defense system to react. Substances that cause these reactions are called allergens. An "allergic reaction" are the symptoms caused by the body's response to an allergen.

Keep track of your allergy symptoms. In your journal, also include information like the particular environment you were in, weather conditions, foods, eaten, and other possible allergens that you may have come in contact with when you experience your symptoms.

Are You Still Smoking? Here Are Some Facts And Tips On Quitting From The Wellness Coaches

Everyone knows the dangers of smoking and the detrimental effects it has on lungs. But did you know that smoking is also associated with cancer of the pancreas, kidney, bladder, myeloid leukemia, liver, stomach, and cervix, and has been linked to colorectal adenomas and cancer as well?  Besides nicotine, cigarette smoke consists of over 4,000 chemical compounds, including cardiac poisons, cancer causing agents, and industrial solvents, which cause heart disease, strokes, pulmonary and respiratory diseases, cancer, and birth defects. Inhaling toxic fumes from tobacco burns the linings of the air passages and reduces the ability to fight off disease. Large particles in smoke contain many poisonous chemicals and forms a corrosive tar in the lungs, exposing it to diseases.

Have family and children in your home?  Did you know that 60,000 non-smokers die each year from diseases related to passive inhalation of secondhand smoke?
