Lead and Galvanized Water Service Line Replacement Program
Test Pitting Program Phase 1 – Mt. Tabor
As part of the Township’s ongoing Lead and Galvanized Water Service Line Program, we will be performing exploratory test pits throughout Mt. Tabor. Test pitting, also known as utility potholing or daylighting, is an excavation process that involves making a series of small excavations in to order accurately locate underground utility lines to determine location, horizontal position, depth, material type and assess subsurface characteristics. The project has been awarded to D. Torluccio Landscaping, LLC.
Construction is currently scheduled to begin on or about May 27, 2025 and is expected to last until July 14, 2025. Work hours will be from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. We are not anticipating any interruption in water service. Should an incident arise during construction and emergency repairs are required, water may be temporarily interrupted until repairs are completed and service restored. Each test pit will be inspected, backfilled, restored and open to traffic by the end of each work day.
Traffic Flow and Accessibility:
For the public and contractor’s safety, traffic restrictions and/or lane closures will occur during work hours. Advanced notice will be provided prior to any driveway access restrictions. The Parsippany Police Department will be on site during road closures for traffic control.
Noise and Site Maintenance:
As with any construction project, noise will be unavoidable with this project. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. The project site will be maintained and cleaned each afternoon prior to the contractor completing their daily work.
Should you have any questions or concerns you may contact Kevin Busund, Assistant Water Superintendent, at 973-263-7082, Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. We thank you for your patience and cooperation.
