Definition: |
Under direction, supervises and oversees one or more major activities such as refuse collection, recyclables collection, brush collection or other related activity within the Sanitation/Recycling Division of the Public Works Department. Performs related duties as required. |
Skills/Duties: |
Ability to read, write, speak understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of the position. Possess good organizational and math skills. Be able to deal effectively and professionally with people. Supervises and may work with employees engaged in lifting garbage containers from curbs to refuse trucks and emptying containers into trucks. Develops effective work plans and routes for subordinates. Obtains, stores, safeguards, distributes and supervises use of equipment, materials and supplies. Establishes and keeps records of personnel, work done, equipment used and time spent. Investigates and resolves complaints received from the public. |
| Experience: |
At least four years’ experience involving the above-mentioned duties and at least supervisory experience. Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days from date of hire. |
