OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Sewage Plant Maintenance Repairer

Department: Sewer Utility
   
Workweek:

 		 5 Days per week Monday - Friday - 7:00am – 3:30pm. Subject to change based upon the needs of the department and the Township. Ability and willingness to work overtime when necessary, both scheduled and emergency.
   
Wage:



 		 Contractual agreement – Grade H4, $24.39 to $37.50/hour

Skills/Duties:



















 		 Under direction, works with a group of repairers, or individually, repairing, maintaining and installing equipment and piping at the sewage treatment and pumping facilities, and performs other related duties as required and directed. Basic computer and email skills required. Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Along with operating, adjusting and regulating sewage plant pumps, valves, and other equipment such as chemical feed machines, sludge pumps, flow meters, valves, etc… Periodically, and as directed, inspect plant, pumping facilities and equipment for malfunctions and needed repairs, performs repairs, on all machines and equipment.
  • Prepares reports, with recommendations, records and files, under direction of Supervisor.
  • Works in conformance with Township and Department policies and procedures.
  • Performs special assignments as assigned by superiors.
  • Performs maintenance scheduled by CMMS and as directed.
  • Utilizes various types of electronic, computer and manual testing, recording and information systems used by Sewer Utility.
  • Works in a wastewater environment, sometimes in confined spaces.
  • Installs piping system, valves, pumps, motors, engines and other equipment
  • Disassemble and reassemble pumps, valves, motors, etc.
  • Vehicle maintenance experience beneficial 
   

Requirements:


 

 Three (3) years of experience in repairing, and maintaining pumps, valves, electric motors, and other electrical and mechanical equipment used in a sewage treatment plant, pump stations and sludge processing. Ability to safely and properly use manual, electric and hydraulic tools. High School Graduate or GED required. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English.
   
License:


 		 Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and NJ CDL License or obtain CDL License within 90 days of hire.
