Council Vice President Diya Patel
Diya Patel serves as a Councilwoman for the Township of Parsippany–Troy Hills. She was sworn into office in January 2026 and is honored to represent her hometown.
Councilwoman Patel is a K-12 graduate of the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District and holds a Bachelors of Science in both political science and criminal justice with a concentration in legal studies from the University of Scranton, where she was served as a class senator on student government, an orientation assistant, and a peer mentor for students of color. During her undergraduate studies, she interned with the City of Scranton Mayor’s Office and gained hands-on experience in community outreach and public affairs.
She is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at Pace University School of Law, where her legal training reinforces her commitment to public service and a strong understanding of governance, municipal law, and civic institutions.
Before joining the Township Council, Diya worked in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, where she contributed to case preparation and public safety initiatives. This work deepened her insight into the legal system and strengthened her focus on justice, fairness, and community well-being.
As a lifelong Parsippany resident and daughter of immigrant parents, Councilwoman Patel brings both professional experience and a deep personal connection to the community she serves. On the Council, she is focused on responsible development, accessibility for residents, and responsive local government that addresses real community needs.
Diya encourages open communication with constituents and is dedicated to transparent, inclusive leadership that reflects the values and priorities of all who call Parsippany home.
